YEREVAN. – Armenian capital Yerevan is without a mayor, yet again, and its Council of Elders will again elect a new mayor. Until the new elections, however, First Deputy Mayor Taron Margaryan will assume office as Acting Mayor.    

Pursuant to the law, pre-term mayoral elections are held within the time specified—but not exceeding one month—by the Council of Elders. 

Taron Margaryan is considered the most likely candidate, but former Mayor Gagik Beglaryan also has a chance to resume office. 

Although the law allows for a one-month period until the election of a new mayor, sources of Armenian News-NEWS.am informed that the elections will be held on November 2.
