YEREVAN. - No parallels should be drawn between personnel changes in the government and the parliament, on Wednesday stated Davit Harutyunyan, the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP and Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly (NA).

He strictly denied any connection with NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s decision to resign and Police Chief Alik Sargsyan’s dismissal. “I do not think parallels should be drawn between rearrangements in the executive body and the legislative field,” Harutyunyan noted.

The latter, as per the MP, has a more political nuance, whereas leadership change in the government is conditioned by “other criteria.”

To note, Armenian capital Yerevan’s Mayor Karen Karapetyan and Police Chief Alik Sargsyan were relieved of their duties, in recent days, and NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan has submitted his resignation, in order to head RPA Campaign Headquarters.
