YEREVAN. – Armenian President completely expressed his viewpoint on resignation of Armenian Police Chief Alik Sargsyan, Armenian Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said regarding his approach towards resignations of high-ranking officials.

“Both, the Yerevan City Mayor and the head of the presidential administration, resigned on their own. I accept the reasons published in the press. Regarding Police Chief, the President completely expressed his viewpoint on the issue,” Abrahamyan said.

On Tuesday Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan introduced new Police Chief, former deputy MOD Vladimir Gasparyan. The President thanked former Police Chief Alik Sargsyan for accomplishing assigned tasks and informed that he will be appointed the advisor of the President.

In response to the report whether Abrahamyan’s own decision for resignation was not influenced by inter party conspiracy, Parliament Speaker said that it is all oppositional talks. It is illogical. He does not weave plot, being a sincere person, Abrahamyan stated.
