YEREVAN.- Parliamentary elections in Armenia scheduled for 2012 can become a democracy day, said co-char оf the inter-parliamentary Armenia-EU committee Milan Cabrnoch.

A new edition of the electoral code was discussed during the regular session in Yerevan.

“We hope the new electoral code will contribute to holding elections in democracy climate. In this case the elections will be regarded as democratic in Armenia and European community,” he added.

Cabrnoch said the delegations also discussed the problem of media availability during elections, adding that some of the members expressed wish to participate in the elections as observers.

Armenian co-chair Naira Zohrabyan expressed hope that Armenia will manage to hold elections on democratic level.

Тhe sides also touched upon the process of Armenia’s European integration, in particular association agreement talks, agreement on free trade zone and the Eastern Partnership project.
