YEREVAN. – All officials who left office received another position, thus what goes on is within staff changes to secure more effective management of the state during pre-election period, ruling Republican Party member Rafik Petrosyan said at a press conference on Thursday.

“The closer the day of electionsб the more transformations are expected. Staff changes are possible but not obligatory,” Petrosyan said and called the journalists not to describe it as “a new wave of resignations.”

There were only two resignations, said Petrosyan adding that a stronger person should head police to be able to prevent clashes and preserve order in the state. According to him, new Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan is just the person.

He also said that much is spoken about new resignations. However, there are only rumors. Nevertheless, new resignations are not excluded.

In response to the remark that former Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan will also hold office, Petrosyan said that the party needs active work of each member, which does not necessarily mean to hold office.
