YEREVAN. – The incumbent speaker of Armenian parliament Hovik Abrahamyan, who recently submitted his resignation, headed the election headquarters of the Republican Party of Armenia during the previous elections and showed excellent organizational skills, said member of RPA parliamentary group Rafik Petrosyan.
According to him, at the moment activity of the parliament is debugged, it is actively working. The agenda has already been accepted and the National Assembly can be easily run by deputy e speakers.
Asked about the reasons of Abrahamyan’s resignation, Petrosyan said that the position of head of election headquarters assumes much work and is time consuming. Commenting on the question whether resignation of Hovik Abrahamyan is an attempt to get rid of the people of former President Robert Kocharyan, the MP said that Abrahamyan is as close to Kocharyan as to incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan.
He stressed that over 20 MPs can claim for the post of Speaker, at the same time excluding his nomination.
