YEREVAN. – Armenia’s newly appointed Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan commenced his tenure with a fairly harsh methodology, Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun daily writes.

“He came and set up a board meeting at a time when [now former Police Chief] Alik Sargsyan had not even finished packing his belongings from the office of the Police Chief. Vladimir Gasparyan had begun giving instructions to the police while Alik Sargsyan was packing his belongings at the time. At the meeting, Gasparyan stated that they talked for three years, and now the time has come to take action. ‘We no longer will talk, we will take action,’ Gasparyan stressed in the very first day of his meeting. [Please] Agree that this is disrespect first and foremost against those with whom Vladimir Gasparyan will continue to work and, second, this is an open scorning of Alik Sargsyan. It turns out that Gasparyan began criticizing his predecessor at the time when, surprised by the news of his dismissal, he was packing his personal belongings,” Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun daily writes.
