YEREVAN. – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is prepared to discuss its assistance to the “Integrated Border Management in the South Caucasus” Programme. This was noted during Friday’s meeting, in the Armenian capital Yerevan, between PM Tigran Sargsyan and EBRD Vice President Jan Fischer.

The interlocutors specifically reflected on EBRD’s potential involvement in the reconstruction and modernization of border checkpoints. 

Tigran Sargsyan stated: “We highly assess our relations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and your visit will enable to clarify our future tasks,” Government Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.          

In his turn, Jan Fischer reflected on the main provisions of the new strategy for EBRD-Armenia cooperation. 

Noting that the parties’ visions for future cooperation coincide, Tigran Sargsyan underscored the need to stimulate the diversity for providing credits to small and medium-size enterprises, and to provide EBRD technical support.    

EBRD’s Vice President highly assessed the Armenian Government’s measures toward improving the business climate, and reassured the Bank’s readiness to continue its relevant assistance.     

PM Tigran Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the course of cooperation between EBRD and the Government of Armenia, stressing the imperative of securing its continuity.
