YEREVAN.- Despite the fact that we have no universal solutions that we could apply in respect of protracted conflicts, we can share conclusions of our conflict which was long considered unsolved, Ireland’s Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore told www.kommersant.ru.

He stressed that being OSCE chairperson he welcomes a possibility to state Ireland’s values in foreign policy in 2012.

Gilmore also said the values ​​include multilateral cooperation and respect for human rights which are basis of the OSCE.

“OSCE plays an important role in conflict prevention and resolution, particularly those which are protracted and are affecting the region. I intend to use our own experience of the peace process in Northern Ireland whenever it is possible,” he added.

Gilmore also said that Russia is an important member of the OSCE and is playing a very active role in the organization.

“In the field of conflict resolution, for example, President Dmitry Medvedev and Sergey Lavrov worked hard for Armenia and Azerbaijan to resolve their long-standing controversy regarding Nagorno-Karabakh, and I fully welcome and support their efforts,” Irish FM said.

The Minister added he would welcome the opportunity to cooperate with Russia in a broader context and in a close dialogue regarding the problems involving OSCE.
