YEREVAN. – FM Edward Nalbandian received Japan’s newly appointed Ambassador to Armenia, Takehito Harada (diplomatic residence in Moscow), who presented the copy of his credentials to Nalbandian.  

Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, Edward Nalbandian noted that Armenia places a huge importance to developing comprehensive relations with Japan, expressing a hope that the new Ambassador would significantly contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, MFA Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.       

“Founding of Armenia’s Embassy, in Tokyo in the past year, bespeaks the importance we place on developing the comprehensive cooperation with Japan,” Nalbandian underscored.  

In his turn, the Japanese Ambassador expressed, on behalf of his government, gratitude for Armenia’s sympathies for the earthquake that hit Japan in March and its assistance rendered toward eliminating the aftermath of the natural disaster.  

The interlocutors also reflected on the avenues for organizing high-level visits, stimulating trade, economic and cultural cooperation, and implementing investment projects. 

FM Nalbandian also thanked Japan for its assistance toward developing Armenia’s economy, ever since its independence.

They also examined a wide range of regional and international issues. Edward Nalbandian also gave the Japanese Ambassador details on the latest developments in the Karabakh peace talks.
