YEREVAN. – Farmers could set price for grape in Armenia for the first time during 20 years, head of the Armenian Wine Makers Union Avag Harutyunyan told the journalists on Monday.

According to him, minimum price for grape was AMD 135 ($0.30) this year, while it was AMD 70-80 last year. The reason is the competitiveness between wine makers.

The demand for Armenian wine is huge especially in Russia after crisis period.  Harutyunyan believes that wine making industry will expand in coming years and the demand for grape will expand as well. Price for grape may achieve to AMD 200 ($0.40) for 1 kg next year.

Armenian government should support farmers to plant more grape-farms by granting privileged loans, he added.
