YEREVAN. – Armenian capital Yerevan’s Police Chief, Major General Nerses Nazaryan denied the rumors about his dismissal. “I am still here, working,” he told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In response to the question whether the wave of reshuffles in the Police Force could reach him, too, Nazaryan said: “I am not a fortune teller. I do not know anything else. I have never heard [about such thing], and no such conversations were made with me.”

To note, Armenia’s newly appointed Police Chief, Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan, carried out more that a dozen reshuffles, in recent days, and also relieved numerous senior police officials from their duties. 

Commenting on these changes, Nerses Nazaryan said: “The Minister [i.e., Vladimir Gasparyan] is very professional, and it is his prerogative to appoint more prepared people to wherever he deems appropriate and all the appointments were of professional people, there is nothing extraordinary. And he appointed elsewhere those whom he dismissed.”    

In Yerevan Police Chief’s words, even those sent to the reserve personnel were quickly appointed to new duties.
