YEREVAN. – Considering the current volume of fish feed usage in Armenia, it would hardly be profitable to establish fish feed producing factories in the country, Unifish Company’s director Armen Mkrtchyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, based on the expedience of production, such a factory’s capacity must be 20 thousand tons, but Armenia currently uses 8-10 thousand. To note, in line with different estimates, profits from lake fish comprise almost 80 percent.

Fishpond operators likewise do not want to waive their share in the fish flour market, and their likelihood to become suppliers is growing. Demand for artificially grown fish has also grown because of the pollution of fishing zones.
