YEREVAN. - Special Investigation Service rejected the motion of the attorney of Oppositional Armenian National Congress young activists. Attorney petitioned to terminate the criminal proceedings against Sargis Gevrokyan, David Kiramijyan, Artak Karapetyan and Tigran Arakelyan and release of the latter from the custody.

On November 3, Special Investigation Service completed a preliminary investigation of criminal proceedings against young ANC activists, materials were sent to the attorney for review. Now that the motion has been rejected the attorney intends to appeal to Prosecutor General‘s Office.

Tigran Arakelyan and six other ANC activists were arrested on August 9 as a result of the incident with police. The opposition insists that the police beaten up the young men and took them to the department. They were charged with disorderly conduct and acts of violence against government officials. All the arrested were released, except Arakelyan.
