PreferredYEREVAN. - The draft state budget of Armenia for 2012 provides for the introduction of a social package, which is totally new and which distinguishes it from all the previous budgets, the chairman of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Fiscal Affairs Gagik Minasyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to him, the idea of a social package has several advantages over a simple increase in wages.
"There are two aspects: firstly, a simple increase in salaries of civil servants would mean that an employee with higher pay would get a big bonus than one with a lower salary, which is not justified. Secondly, if wages are raised up to a certain fixed amount, it would also raise taxes but this is not the case with the social package,” said the MP.
