YEREVAN. – Well-informed sources of Zhoghovurd daily found out that Armenia’s outgoing Parliament Speaker, Hovik Abrahamyan, and former Police Chief, Alik Sargsyan, who are from the Ararat Region by birth, had met with the village heads of their Region. It is possible that the reason was official, in connection with the 15th anniversary of Armenia’s local self-governance, but those present had had another impression.   

“They tried to show to the village heads that their positions have not at all wavered after their dismissals, [and] that there is no problem or crisis within the government,” Zhoghovurd writes. In a conversation with the daily, however, Ararat Region’s current Governor, Edik Barseghyan, denied the occurrence of that meeting.
