YEREVAN. – Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian on Wednesday met with Romania’s FM Teodor Baconschi, who is in capital Yerevan for a working visit, and they discussed collaboration issues.

Nalbandian noted that the friendship between the two peoples is a helpful basis for developing Armenian-Romanian relations. He also expressed a hope that the visit would give a new impetus to bilateral relations, MFA Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.       

In his turn, Minister Baconschi noted that his visit to Yerevan aims to stimulate cooperation with Armenia. 

The two FMs also discussed the extension of the legal field and making cultural ties more active.

They also underscored the holding of consultations and mutual visits between the MFAs and the interparliamentary assemblies.

FM Nalbandian expresses a satisfaction by the Romanian authorities’ caring disposition toward the Romanian-Armenian community and the preservation of its cultural heritage.

Also, the interlocutors examined Armenia-EU cooperation, and the processes taking place along the lines of Eastern Partnership.

Armenia’s and Romania’s FMs also exchanged views on international and regional matters, including the Karabakh peace process. In this context, they both reaffirmed that the conflict must be resolved through peace talks, alone, and based on the principles of international law and the proposals by the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Minsk Group’s Co-Chairs.
