YEREVAN.- A scandal involving governor of Syunik region Suren Khachatryan who allegedly beat a woman is not the first in history, said leader of Demorcatic Party Aram Sargsyan.

Commenting on Khachatryan’s behavior, Sargsyan said unfortunately the governor is not the only person who dares act like this.

“In this context position of ruling Republican Party is unclear [Khachatryan is party’s member],” Sargsyan said urging the governor to hand in resignation.

Earlier Armenian businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan filed the lawsuit as a result of being beaten by Khachatryan at Armenia-Marriot hotel on Monday.
