The assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump during a campaign rally on July 13 has instilled fear in European politicians that they, too, could be attacked. This assessment was made by the European edition of Politico.

According to the newspaper, the incident was a reminder to European politicians that the danger of political violence in Europe is also growing. Against this background, the leader of the parliamentary faction of the French party “National Union” Marine Le Pen, commenting on the assassination attempt on Trump, warned that “France is not immune to such violence.” As the publication notes, the fears of European elites are reinforced by the fact that something like this has already happened in Europe. In May, there was an assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico; last month, the head of the Danish government, Mette Frederiksen, survived an attack, and in the UK, two members of parliament have been killed in the last eight years.
