YEREVAN. – OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs try to control the process, as both mediators and the international community feel that negotiations are fruitless in case of ceasefire regime violations, head of the ruling Republican Party’s parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Regarding the expectations of the mediators’ visit, Sahakyan said that the matter is not the expectations but the process itself. They are connected not only to the Karabakh conflict settlement but also the incessant ceasefire violations by the snipers on the contact line, he added.

In response to the question whether tangible progress is possible in the period when Armenia and Azerbaijan enter election campaign, Sahakyan said that Armenia has that progress.

Head of the Republican Party parliamentary group does not share the viewpoint that the visit of Co-Chairs is regular. Each visit makes the conflict clearer for the international community. There cannot be immediate positive changes after each meeting, however, it the meetings are already manifestation of progress, Sahakyan concluded.

OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Robert Bradtke (U.S.), Igor Popov (Russia) and Bernard Fassier (France) will visit Yerevan on Monday.

They will meet with the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and FM Edward Nalbandian, MFA’s spokesperson Tigran Balayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
