YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received on Monday Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and Armenian Catholicos Karkin II.

The President praised high Russian Patriarch’s efforts in strengthening morality and spiritual values in the society, presidential press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to the President’s order, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill was awarded with St. Mesrop Mashtots medal for deepening traditional friendship between Armenian and Russian people, strengthening relations between Armenian Apostolic Church and Russian Orthodox Church as well as preserving and developing spiritual values.

Russian Patriarch stressed that it is a great pleasure to visit Armenia. He does not think it accidental to hold the session in Armenia, which started on Monday. Armenian Catholicos is a co-founder of the CIS interreligious council and participates actively in the negotiations. He also thanked the President and the Catholicos for the support in holding the session.
