YEREVAN. – The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) will probably receive no more than 25 percent of the votes in the 2012 parliamentary elections, National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan stated to news reporters, on Tuesday. 

As per Hayrikyan, he himself, on the other hand, probably will not be able to receive any more than 20 percent, even if his political party teams up with other political forces during the elections.   

According to Hayrikyan, one of the main weaknesses of ANC leader and Armenia’s First President, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, is that he has not yet apologized to the people for the previous years.  

Paruyr Hayrikyan also added that even if fair elections were to be conducted in Armenia, this would hardly change anything unless there is a change in the society’s system of values.

Hayrikyan also maintained that the opposition cannot become a true single force, under the current conditions, and that it needs to unite which, however, is not happening like it was in the past.
