VIENNA. - The 14th General Conference of UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) opened in Vienna on Monday. The General Conference, which is convened every two year, is the supreme body of the Organization and consists of 174 member states.

The conference is titled “The New Industrial Revolution: Making it sustainable”, Armenian MFA’s press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. Vice Chancellor of Austria Michael Spindelegger, UNIDO Director General Kandeh Yumkella, Ministers, and high ranking officers delivered speeches during the Conference.

Head of the Armenian delegation, permanent representative of Armenia in the international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Arman Kirakosyan delivered a speech at the Conference on Wednesday. He touched upon the program of Armenia’s industrial development, which is directed to poverty reduction.

Kirakosyan also spoke about projects realized jointly with the UNIDO, in particular those for start-up entrepreneurs, support for communities with vulnerable and refugee population, development and application of cleaner production in mining, chemical and food industry, as well as the centre of UNIDO industrial development recently opened in Armenia.
