Some members of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction of the National Assembly have initiated a petition to bring up the issue of dismissing Justice Minister Grigor Minasyan for discussion. This information was confirmed to NEWS.am by "Civil Contract" faction MP Hovik Aghazaryan.

Aghazaryan did not elaborate on the reasons behind this move, but told Azatutyun that one of them is related to Minasyan's "father and brother."

It is worth noting that Grigor Minasyan is the brother of one of Armenia's prominent opposition figures Mikayel Minasyan, the former Armenian ambassador to the Holy See and son-in-law of Armenia's third President, Serzh Sargsyan. Mikayel Minasyan has been politically persecuted by the Armenian authorities for several years.

The authorities have also initiated a criminal case against Minasyan's father, the renowned doctor Ara Minasyan, and his mother, lecturer Armine Hasratyan. Mikayel Minasyan's entire family has become a target of political persecution under Pashinyan's regime.

It should be noted that Grigor Minasyan has held the position of Justice Minister since December 26, 2022. Earlier, "Hraparak" reported that Grigor Minasyan's days as Justice Minister seem numbered, and the "Civil Contract" faction had started collecting signatures yesterday to appeal to Nikol Pashinyan regarding his dismissal. According to the party's charter, the issue of any official's dismissal can become a topic of discussion if 1/3 of the faction appeals to the leader of the "Civil Contract." This means that if 24 signatures are collected, the issue of dismissing the minister will be discussed, but the final decision will rest with Pashinyan, who will decide what course of action to take on the faction's appeal.

By midday yesterday, according to the website's information, around ten members of the "Civil Contract" faction had already signed, and it is believed that the required number will be reached.
