GYUMRI. – Armenia’s newly appointed Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan caused confusion at Shirak Regional Police Precinct. He appointed posts, several days ago, but he changed his mind, on Friday, and did not sign the respective orders, Aravot daily writes.
“When Akhuryan [city] Police Chief Vahram Yengoyan headed to [capital] Yerevan to receive his order, it became apparent that he will not be the Gyumri city Police Chief, but rather Shirak Regional Deputy Police Chief on Operative Matters. This surprised Gevorg Tadevosyan, who currently occupies this post, and who became irritated and in his turn did not agree to assume the post of Akhuryan city Police Chief, which naturally is lower [position] than his.
By the way, several senior officials from Gyumri asserted that the ‘newly appointed’ had become happy too soon. For example, Akhuryan Police Chief Vahram Yengoyan was so much exited by the thought of becoming Gyumri Police Chief that he organized a banquet in a restaurant. But he went to the capital and was surprised,” Aravot writes.
