BAKU. – U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza believes that Armenia and Azerbaijan may come to an agreement on basic principles and it should be achieved. However, warmer climate is needed for the negotiations, and relations between the sides should be more intensive, Bryza said commenting on the sharp criticism by the Azerbaijani officials against the Minsk Group activity.

 “I know from my own experience that the Minsk Group conducts a great work that brought two sides almost to an agreement in peace treaty,” APA quotes U.S. Ambassador.

Bryza also added that some specific issues are left to be coordinated for the Karabakh conflict settlement. The diplomat hopes that the presidents [Armenian and Azerbaijani] will have another meeting in the near future.

He said that the sides should respect each other to achieve the agreement on peace settlement. He also stressed to raise physiologic and political atmosphere and take measures to achieve trust.

“I know the co-chairs are working towards it for improvement of the psychological and political climate between the leaders. Now it is needed to strengthen the confidence measures. It is especially it is needed to investigate ceasefire violations incidents,” he said.
