YEREVAN. - Armenia must start producing and exporting medicines, which have been invented by Armenian scientists, the president of the National Union of Manufacturers Vazgen Safaryan informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him Armenia has the potential for medicine production development but currently it is only done by generic medicines.

“The development of each medicine demanded 400 million rubles during Soviet times, in the USA it was equal to $800 million,” V. Safaryan said.

Pharmaceutics is one of the three spheres for which the Armenian government developed an export promotion program.
