Within the framework of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s working visit to France, the Mayor of Marseille, Jean-Claude Gaudin, organized a reception in Sargsyan’s honor, at Marseille City Hall on Wednesday.
In his address, Marseille’s mayor reflected on the Armenian-French relations and the city’s Armenian community. In his words, there is a real chance that the bill, which criminalizes Armenian Genocide’s denial in France, will pass in the near future.
In his turn, Armenia’s President spoke about the role which the Armenians, who escaped from the Genocide, played in Marseille. And on behalf of the Armenian people, he expressed a gratitude to French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Marseille’s mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin for their stance toward the Armenian community.
