YEREVAN. – The relations between Armenian National Assembly (NA) Chief of Staff, Gegham Gharibjanyan, and NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan are normal and are working relations, Gharibjanyan himself told Armenian News-NEWS.am, reflecting on the information disseminated in the press that their relations are not “good friendly,” mildly put, and that Nikoyan will soon dismiss him from office.
“There are no such intentions at present, and I continue the work that is entrusted to me. I continue to normally secure the Parliament Staff’s activities,” Gegham Gharibjanyan said, adding that Samvel Nikoyan did not hold a meeting with the Staff, and that, during the consultation with the employees, he presented the problems he had raised in his pre-election address, and proposed to correct them.
To note, according to Yerkir daily, during his address prior to being elected NA Speaker, Samvel Nikoyan had also reflected on the activities of NA Staff. “There seems to be a false impression among us that it is not the Staff that serves the MPs’ activities, but the opposite. We have things to do here,” Nikoyan had stated during his address, Yerkir wrote. “Considering the fact that the relations between Samvel Nikoyan and NA Chief of Staff Gegham Gharibjanyan are not ‘good friendly,’ to put it mildly, we can assume that his [Nikoyan’s] words were directed at Gharibjanyan and that soon there will be the next dismissal at the parliament. Even though after [former NA Speaker] Hovik Abrahamyan’s resignation Gegham Gharibjanyan had announced that he is a ‘constant value’ and was not preparing to leave, he, in all probability, will not be able to work with Samvel Nikoyan,” Yerkir wrote.
