YEREVAN. – Armenia is on the verge of great changes, and it has entered a period which demands a greater responsibility from the political forces, parliamentary opposition’s Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian stated during a pres conference on Monday.

“2011 was an eventful year, but it was also a year of missed opportunities. It was a year leading to defeat in all directions. Even on 20th anniversary of Artsakh [Karabakh] we learned that they had arrested Narek Hartunyan, who is a law abiding person,” Hovannisian said and added: “The law is applied unevenly. Of course, the law will function, but it must function for all.”

As per Raffi Hovannisian, we will either stand above these uneven approaches, or continue fumbling.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, past Friday night, an Armenian capital Yerevan court sentenced president Narek Hartunyan of Narekatsi Art Union to close to two months in prison. And thus the court ruled in favor of the State Revenue Committee’s (SRC) petition. As SRC informed, Narek Hartunyan headed the G. H. Storage Enterprise Company and evaded paying large amount of taxes to the state budget. Also, charges are filed against the Company’s Assistant Manager, Ani Mnatsakanyan, and accountant Artur Galstyan.  According to SRC, the damage caused to the state is around 109 million drams (US$ 284,150).
