YEREVAN.- Passengers of Ukrainian Aerosvit Airlines’ plane which was en route from Kiev to Armenian capital can demand compensation, Nelly Cherchinyan, spokesperson for the General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA) of Armenia told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to her, under the law on civil aviation, passengers of Aerosvit Airlines can demand compensation for inconvenience. She said the passengers are checking in at the moment.

The plane had to land in the Georgian capital Tbilisi due to bad weather conditions. However, the company did not resolve on time the lodging and sustenance issues of one hundred passengers, who were waiting in Yerevan for this plane to travel to Kiev. The plane had to arrive on Sunday morning and then leave for Kiev.

Also, this was a charter flight for fourteen passengers, and, consequently, they were late for their other flights.

GDCA sent a formal letter to Aerosvit Airlines, demanding and explanation for what transpired.
