Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Stephane Dion, Canadian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to the European Union (EU), Europe, and Armenia, the Armenian PM’s office informs.
The premier welcomed Dion's visit to Armenia and emphasized his role in the consistent development of Armenia-Canada relations. Pashinyan underscored the importance of the expansion of Armenia’s relations with Canada in various domains, and the assistance of that country in the promotion of democratic reforms in Armenia.
Stephane Dion, for is part, noted that Canada welcomes the measures being taken by the Armenian government to protect human rights, strengthen democracy, and implement reforms in other domains, and is ready to continue assisting Armenia. According to the Canadian premier’s special envoy to Armenia, the opening of the Canadian embassy in Armenia will also contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation in economy, high tech, education, and culture.
The interlocutors discussed the implementation of joint projects in various sectors.
Views were exchanged also on the latest developments regarding the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty. In this connection, the PM Pashinyan reflected on the positions of the Armenian side on various issues. In turn, Stephane Dion emphasized that Canada supports the Armenian government efforts aimed at peace.
