YEREVAN. – In 2011, Armenia’s domestic life was active, but stable at the same time, the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia MP Hovhannes Sahakyan stated, during a press conference on Wednesday, summing up the political year. 

He also underscored the opposition-authorities discourse, considering it a novelty in Armenia’s political culture.

“For 2011, I would also highlight the adoption of the new Electoral Code, Armenia’s 20th independence anniversary events, specifically the military parade,” Hovhannes Sahakyan added. 

And in terms of the developments in foreign policy, the ruling party’s MP said: “The status quo on settlement of [the] Nagorno-Karabakh [conflict] is still maintained, and we direct the international community’s attention on [the fact] that Azerbaijan has not yet abandoned its policy of deconstructive statements.” And in Hovhannes Sahakyan’s words, Armenia strengthened its positions in the Karabakh peace process.
