YEREVAN.- Armenian weightlifters won 55 medals this year, head of Armenia’s Weightlifting Federation Samvel Khachatryan told journalists on Thursday.

Armenian weightlifters gained seventeen gold, thirteen silver and twenty-five bronze medals, as well as four places at the Olympics for men’s team and two – for women’s team.

However, Khachatryan expressed discontent with the results of the World Championships held in Paris. He explained poor performance inthe tournament by pre-Olympic tension.

The leaders of the Armenian team will miss the tournaments scheduled for next spring to get prepared for the London Olympics, he added.
