YEREVAN. – On Thursday, the Government of Armenia gave a negative conclusion to opposition Heritage Party Parliamentary Faction’s bill “On Lustration.”
And the reasons for the Government’s negative conclusion are as follows: Laws on lustration were adopted to be rid of the communist regime. No CIS-member has adopted such law. The idea of combating against the leadership of the ruling communist parties and special services of former socialist republics is at the basis of these laws.
“The present-day Republic of Armenia was declared the successor of Armenian SSR, owing to which former Communist Party officials, or other collaborators, were not singled out in Armenia,” the Government’s conclusion reads.
