Jean-Noel Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, and Annalena Baerbock, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, have arrived in Syria, and today they will meet with the leader of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, Ahmed al-Sharaa, reports Le Monde.
"In Syria, we want to help a peaceful transition of power, which will benefit the Syrian people and regional stability," Jean-Noel Barrot noted.
In turn, Annalena Baerbock had said that Germany would like to help Syria become a full-fledged state that controls its entire territory, the BBC reports. She had noted that despite all the skepticism towards the Islamists of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, Germany should not miss the opportunity to help the Syrian people at this important moment.
