YEREVAN. – Armenia should become a permanent member of the Eurasian Union, head of off parliamentary opposition News Times Party Aram Karapetyan said at a press conference on Friday.
According to him, Eurasian Union will create wide opportunities for Armenia, including market, reduction in energy tariffs and positive attitude towards the Armenian communities.
The argument that Armenia strives to be in the Union, while has no common borders does not fall in logic. Armenia cooperates actively with all Eurasian Union member states in the field economy.
In response to whether the establishment of the Eurasian Union may be evaluated as reanimation of the USSR, Karapetyan said that reestablishment of the Soviet Union is impossible.
“The Eurasian Union should be established and based on common ideology, idea on restoring justice,” he concluded.
