The US government has allocated hundreds of billions of dollars to help Ukraine, while Europe has spent much more on buying oil and natural gas from Russia. This was stated in US President Donald Trump’s speech—released by the White House press service—before the US Congress.

“I am also working tirelessly to end the savage conflict in Ukraine,” Trump said. “The United States has sent hundreds of billions of dollars to support Ukraine’s defense. Meanwhile, Europe has sadly spent more money buying Russian oil and [natural] gas than they have spent on defending Ukraine—by far! And [preceding US President Joe] Biden has authorized more money in this fight than Europe has spent."

Traditionally, US presidents present annual State of the Union addresses to Congress. But since Trump took office for the second time on January 20, this time it is not about a full-fledged State of the Union address, during which the results of the past year's work are recapped and plans for the future are announced.
