YEREVAN. – News came in on Tuesday that, on Monday evening, members of Armenian capital Yerevan’s Arabkir regional organization of the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) held a New Year party at a restaurant, but the party ended with a fight, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.

“According to the circulated information, neighborhood thugs were involved in the argument. According to the information we received, Arabkir residents’ pride was the cause for the argument which turned the restaurant upside down. They say many are resentful of the fact that {Arabkir] Prefect and head of [RPA] Arabkir organization are not Arabkir residents, that they appoint non-Arabkir residents to responsible offices, and after all this they want for Arabkir residents to work for them. Hakob Hakobyan, deputy head of RPA Arabkir organization confirmed that a festive event was held at the restaurant, but he denied that any incident had occurred during the event. ‘Our boys know each other for a long time; such thing is ruled out,’ he claimed in a conversation with us,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
