IJEVAN. – Three people are arrested in connection with the fight in a restaurant, and the ensuing shots fired, in Armenia’s Ijevan city on Tuesday. The detained are Ijevan residents Hovik and Sheko Khechyan and their relative, Vardan. Ijevan Police Chief Andranik Azibekyan corroborated this information, in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, adding that the arrestees are charged with hooliganism.    

During a party in a restaurant in Ijevan on Tuesday, one of the guests was disrespectful toward a waitress, and as a result a fight broke between the residents of Ijevan and Dilijan cities. Subsequently, the Dilijan residents arrived in Ijevan with “auxiliary forces” and numerous vehicles, and fired shots, and in response hunting rifle shots were fired in their direction from a residential building.   

A criminal case is launched on hooliganism charges, and a maximum seven-year prison term is laid down.
