YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations received information Wednesday that an automobile had fallen into the canyon, from Goris-Karahunj Highway, and that there are casualties.

A firefighting-rescue squad was dispatched to the scene.

A VAZ 2106 had gone off road, for yet unknown reasons, and fallen into the nearby canyon. 

The firefighter-rescuers removed from the vehicle the dead bodies of its driver, Gevorg Shatunts (born in 1972), and passenger, Ashkhen Ghazaryan (born in 1969). They also rescued Aram Grigoryan (born in 1992), who was injured. The doctors say he is in severe condition.
