KURGAN. – The citizens of Armenia could be sentenced to up to eight years in prison for giving counterfeit money to a villager in Russia’s Kurgan Oblast. And a criminal case to that effect is launched, Russia’s Internal Affairs Ministry informed Friday. 

According to the Ministry’s data, a 49-year-old villager was selling pork and bird meat at the side of Kurgan-Yekaterinburg Highway on Thursday. He remembered that one his clients had given him a brand new 5,000-ruble bill. The villager found the bill to be suspicious, and this was corroborated by the special device at the nearby store.  

The villager informed the police, and as a result the suspects, who are citizens of Armenia, were detained on the same evening.
