French MP Patrick Devedjian considers that the bill banning genocide denial, including the Armenian Genocide, will block Turkey’s attempts to carry out denial policy in France.
In an interview with the Turkish Milliyet newspaper he said the bill will also raise awareness of the problem in the French society.
The MP said he had received about 5,000 letters from Turks living throughout Europe. “The Hurriyet newspaper launched a signature campaign against me. If the bill passes the Senate, it will become impossible,” he said.
Asked about the French who are opposing the bill, Devedjian said they had changed their opinion after they saw Turkey’s response.
The MP said he would fight till the end as it is a matter of honor.
