US officials have stated that Washington was not involved in Tuesday's Israeli strike on Hamas representatives in Qatar, despite reports in the Israeli media that the United States had given the “green light” to the operation, Al Arabiya reports.

"The US military did not participate in the strikes, and we refer you to the Israel Defense Forces for any further information," one US official said.

A source familiar with the situation added that Israel notified Washington shortly before the attack, but the planning was not coordinated.

CBS News quoted two US officials who also said the US did not coordinate its actions with Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strike was “a completely independent Israeli operation,” adding: “Israel initiated it, Israel carried it out, and Israel bears full responsibility.”

The Israeli Air Force said it used “high-precision weapons and additional intelligence,” but did not specify what aircraft or weapons were used.
