YEREVAN. - Price control is insufficient in Armenia, Alternative Research Center Director, economist Tatul Manaseryan stated during a press conference on Friday.

In his view, the Central Bank cannot regulate the prices by fiscal means alone.  

But as a positive example of price regulation, Manaseryan noted the Agriculture Ministry’s increasing of the number of produce markets which, however, was not enough to restrain the twofold-threefold increase of prices by the vendors.

In 2011, the average level of inflation in Armenia’s consumer goods constituted 4.7 percent.
