“For the Erebuni–Yerevan celebrations, we spent slightly more than last year, and once we finalize all the details, we will provide full information to all media outlets,” Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan said during a briefing with journalists after the government meeting on October 23.

Speaking about the construction of a new recycling plant at the Nubarashen landfill, the mayor stated, “When we talk about the Nubarashen landfill, the first point to note is that Yerevan has been facing this issue for 75 years. I am confident that even during the Soviet era, there were discussions about finding solutions, but nothing was done. So what are we doing? We are moving forward on three parallel fronts. First, we are announcing a two-phase competition. The logic is that companies with experience in building and managing recycling plants should submit their proposals for the first phase, after which we will finalize and launch the second phase of the competition for the complete recycling plant.

Second, together with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and our international financial partners, we are trying to find a solution for the same goal. We have emphasized that we will follow the path that is faster and more effective.

Third, a new program needs to be presented for certain preliminary recycling processes at the existing Nubarashen landfill.”
