In 2026, it is planned to reduce Armenia’s defense expenditures. This is reflected in the data provided in the 2026 draft state budget, which is being debated on at today’s joint meeting of the parliamentary standing committees.
Thus, compared to the 2025 state budget draft, the Ministry of Defense’s expenditures will decrease by 15.3%, reaching 563.1 billion drams (approximately 1.4 billion USD). This accounts for roughly 15.5% of total state budget expenditures.
Moreover, the cuts will also affect the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In this case, the reduction in expenditures will amount to 2.2%, or up to 102.6 billion drams (about 267 million USD).
