“We must constantly say that peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan is an established fact, and we must also relate to the situation that peace is an unfamiliar phenomenon for us,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today during the debates on the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2026” in the National Assembly.

“The Republic of Armenia is not familiar with what peace means, because from its very first day of independence, the Republic of Armenia has been in conflict. Even in the relatively short period preceding independence, we essentially lived in a conflict environment. Living under conditions of peace, having values and ways of thinking appropriate to peace, is not a simple matter. We must be very careful in addressing this issue, and this is an important component of the need to take care of peace. We must take care of the established peace so that it strengthens, consolidates, and becomes more institutionalized. Of course, in this regard we are working, continuing the work with Azerbaijan, continuing the work through diplomatic channels. Contacts at various levels are also taking place,” he Pashinyan said.

The Armenian PM recalled that recently the speaker of the parliament recently met with his Azerbaijani counterpart, and previously, meetings of working groups at the level of deputy prime ministers of the two countries had taken place. “Also, essentially daily work takes place in a remote format. Previously as well, our relations with Azerbaijan were an inseparable part of our daily work; now the difference is that peace with Azerbaijan has become an inseparable part of our daily work,” emphasized the Armenian prime minister.
