The Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: [PM] Nikol Pashinyan is not satisfied with the 3 bishops. We have learned that the investigative body initiated 3–4 proceedings in the summer against Archbishop Arshak [Khachatryan],

Chancellor of the Mother See [of Holy Etchmiadzin], and they keep summoning him for questioning, while he, exercising his constitutional right, refuses to testify. To our question about what he is being accused of, they said: “All that’s left is to accuse him of the murder of Khoren Muradbekyan.”

And Muradbekyan was killed in 1938. Archbishop Arshak is being accused of murder, illegal weapons, ties with the criminal underworld, money laundering. All of these are based on information spread by defrocked clergymen [of the Armenian Apostolic Church], or by a fake “Priest Harutyun.”

This “priest” sends his “revelations” to the media also. We were especially interested in the murder accusation. It turned out that, according to the testimonies, Archbishop Arshak “killed Catholicos [of All Armenians] Karekin I by poisoning.” Let us remind that Karekin I had cancer of the vocal cords, had been ill for a long time, and died in June 1999.
