Venezuela's permanent representative to the UN, Samuel Moncada, stated during a UN Security Council meeting that the threat to peace does not come from Caracas, but from the US government.

The Venezuelan diplomat's statement was a response to the statement of US permanent representative to the UN, Mike Waltz, who had previously called the policies of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro an unusual threat to the security of the region and the US.

“The world must know that the threat is not Venezuela, the threat is the current United States government,” Moncada said.

As reported earlier, according to The Wall Street Journal, the US moved large numbers of special-operations aircraft, troops, and equipment into the Caribbean area this week, expanding its capacity for possible military operations.
